So… I’m Taking 16 People to Morocco
Somewhere between booking the flights, planning the yoga sessions and working out how on earth I'm going to get 16 people from the airport to the desert, it suddenly hit me.
I'm actually taking 16 people to Morocco.
Not just visiting Morocco. Not going for a holiday. I'm responsible for a whole group of people having an amazing few days.
And that feels slightly terrifying.
But mostly, it feels exciting.
This New Year, we're heading to Morocco for a few days of yoga, mountains, Marrakech, good food, sunshine and a New Year's Eve in the Agafay Desert.
I've spent a lot of time thinking about what I want my retreats to feel like. I don't want them to feel like a strict schedule where you're rushing from one activity to the next.
I want people to have those moments where they suddenly realise they've completely switched off.
A slow breakfast.
A yoga class with the mountains around you.
Laughing with people you've only just met.
Getting properly lost in Marrakech.
Watching the sun disappear over the desert.
And then, before you know it, it's time to go home.
There's still plenty to organise before we get there. Lists, bookings, transfers, food, yoga equipment, emergency plans... the glamorous side of running a retreat that nobody puts on Instagram.
But that's part of the adventure.
So this is chapter one of The Retreat Diaries.
Sixteen people. Morocco. New Year's Eve.
What could possibly go wrong?
